From obscurity to global singing sensation, Susan Boyle has taken the world by storm. Featured on the amateur talent competition TV show “Britain’s Got Talent”, Ms. Boyle’s appearance on April 16 stunned the audience of 10,000 with her rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream”, garnering her kudos from the three judges, and a standing ovation from the audience.
Since the first airing of the show in the UK, YouTube has had over 25 million hits on the replay within less than a week. Pierce Morgan, one of the three judges said “the extraordinary voice from a most unexpected candidate was thrilling. She has the voice of an angel”.
Ms Boyle, 47 and single her whole life, had only sung at her small church in Scotland prior to the show. She promised her mother, two years ago, before she passed away, to audition for the national talent show. Taking only “baby steps” with her career aspirations, she recorded a single reecord for a church fund raiser ten years ago, producing 1,000 records. Now, she is expected to be launched into super stardom, with Susan Boyle Fan Clubs popping up worldwide.
Simon Cowell, another judge and producer of both the UK and American versions of American Idol, expects a world tour and multimillion dollar record deal for her now, along with being the odds on favorite to win the competition. The great appeal and charm is that she is so unconventional said Pierc Morgan. The third judge, Amanda Holden remarked that “it was a privilege to hear her sing”.
The response from You Tube has launched Ms. Boyle into the viral stratosphere. Appearing on CNN’s Larry King, Ms. Boyle said, “I won’t be lonely anymore”. Single her entire life and by her own admission “never been kissed”, she has a bright and decidedly full life ahead of her now. We applaud her courage for taking a leap of faith!
